Being Familiar with Gum Disease

Gum disease is an  inflammation of the gum tissue and damage to the structures that support the teeth, including the bone and it is being caused by plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that constantly coats our teeth.

Gum disease is one of the most common dental problems adults face, but gum disease can begin at just about any age and it is a threat to your oral health . If left untreated it can result to more serious dental cases and worse is tooth loss.

Proper oral hygiene is the best and effective way in preventing and treating gum disease. Brush your teeth properly at least twice a day and floss at least once every 24 hours. Brushing the teeth immediately after indulging in these foods can go a long way in preventing the onset of gum disease. Flossing is also essential for removing plaque from places that a regular brush cannot reach including under the gum line and in between the teeth.
